Recut Richard Homer Stone

This side view demonstrates the dramatic change in the color of the stone, as well as the profile from the poorly cut stone with a lot of weight hanging onto the belly of the stone, to a stone that is cut to return the light that enters the stone back to the eye of the viewer.

Notice the grey component of the larger stone and how it is completely gone from view in the recut stone.

The picture really says it all. We owned this stone for six months before getting around to having it cut. It sold within a week after it was cut. This the kind of happy heart making stone that we love working with!

These formerly sleepy stones were sent in by a client to recut and have them made into a wonderful pair of earrings.

We had nothing to do with making the ring, but we sure made the stone, and the ring, look much better!

Take a sleepy diamond, send it to be color treated, and now you have something interesting!

We are always amazed when something looks so incredibly different when Richard is done with it. This stone was pretty before we recut it, but now it is Incredible!

This is the most weight we have seen lost by Richard on a recut, but if you notice the apparent size of the stone did not change. Only the "fat" of it was removed, keeping the same dimensions of the girdle.

Another startling transformation by Richard Homer. So-so and something we would have had in our store forever to wonderful and quickly sold.

One of the things about Richard's cutting is the extraordinary way it improves the visible color of the stone. Because his cutting causes the light to move and reflect longer within the stone, it absorbs more of the color and becomes even more incredible. Often times a pale stone such as this one, becomes quite beautiful and of much higher value just because of the color shift, let alone the increased beauty.
